I made a short campaign stop at the grocery store on Day 104 of Campaign Smile. It was a great experience and almost every person smiled…
1. As I was walking in, a woman was pushing her cart past me on the way out the door. She gave me a great smile in return for mine.
2. When I was walking past the deli I looked over to see one of my friends in line. I stopped to hear her relate the unfortunate events of her getaway weekend, both of us smiling and laughing the whole time.
3. As I was standing in line at the register the older woman in front of me was moving a little slower than the cashier would have liked, I believe. I was unbothered and in no great hurry so it was not affecting me. This young man, though, acted as if he was under some sort of time requirement per person, which might be true. He was nice enough and very efficient but offered no smile. She, though, turned toward me before walking away and showed a grateful, genuine smile.
4. As I crossed the parking lot to my car I passed a young lady working for the store, pushing a number of carts in that she had gathered. She had a tremendous smile that I really appreciated seeing.
With 4 more smiles today we now have 356 total! Sometimes I feel like I am just drawing them to me and perhaps I am.
