I was gathering smiles in a wide number of places on this 91st Day of Campaign Smile. Here are the results of the various campaign stops…
1. I spent some time at the library again and most of my fellow patrons were wrapped up in their own affairs. However, I did get a chance to interact with a couple of the librarians. The first older woman had a very transformative smile. When she smiled her entire face was noticeably lifted skyward. It was a joy to witness. The second, younger woman held her smile in despite my smiling efforts through the whole process of checking out items. When she had finished, though, her quiet smile was one that I could tell was very real and heartfelt. I believe those great smiles were transferred to any number of other readers throughout the day.
2. At lunch, the man taking the order was very nice and helpful but he did not smile. The woman who handed my order to me, though, had a pleasant smile.
3. I stopped at a local store to pick up a few things at the end of the day and had to ask for help in locating one of the items. The young man not only granted me a smile but instead of simply giving me directions he personally led me to my requested item as he joked about moving things around to get everyone to buy more. The cashier, likewise, was quite jovial and smiled along with me.
