Today was Day 87 of Campaign Smile and, though I was all over the place all day long, I had very little interactions for any number of reasons. A lot of what I was doing was primarily for work so I don’t count the multitude of smiles I created among my coworkers and those I was interviewing. Later I went to buy some shorts for my upcoming cruise and made a few connections. Here’s what the day looked like…
1. After a brief stop to drop off some stuff at the office I visited the library to get my materials ready for my first appointment. When I went to that appointment, a friend of mine staying at a condo on the beach, the woman sitting at the front desk gave me a small smile as I walked by. The maintenance man standing near the desk said hi but did not smile.
2. When I was leaving I ended up sharing the elevator with 3 women from the housekeeping staff who all had weary smiles. They were only about halfway through their day and I could see that the heat was doing a number on them, physically and emotionally.
3. While I was shopping I took several items to the fitting rooms. Because of the way they were standing, I managed to sneak up on the two women working there. Though they were not physically startled, I did surprise them a little when they realized I was behind them. They both offered small smiles in response to mine.
4. The cashier when I was paying for my purchases seemed very formal but did grant a small grin.
All together I gathered 7 more smiles today to bring the balance to 282! The Campaign moves on.
