Today was Day 65 of Campaign Smile and, more notably, the end of the James Dean Contest. I hope you had a chance to subscribe to get your chance to win. I’ll announce the winner tomorrow. As part of my smile campaign stop today I was also scouting for another prize. I got a couple of ideas though the traffic at the store was pretty thin so the smiles were not plentiful.
1. As I was randomly looking for ideas I stuck my head around one corner to see if there were any possibilities. There were not. However, there was a store employee who responded to my smile with a tight smile of her own. While the gesture may not have swallowed her face the light of positive feelings was lit.
2. I passed a fellow customer as I walked down one of the aisles. He responded to my stare by simply staring at me before looking to read what was written on my shirt.
3. A second employee was watching me and my smiling countenance from a distance as he continued his work. When I had nearly reached him he realized that I really could see him studying me the whole way. He said hi to me though he did not reciprocate with a smile of his own.
I only added 1 more smile today, bringing the number to 218. I feel confident, however, that I did a lot of good that was not immediately visible or felt. Wish I could know about the smiles that are generated by the successive smiles and kindnesses that are passed along by those I encounter.
